The county is endowed with rich tourism potential. It is part of the western tourism circuit which has of late been a key marketing focus by the Kenya Tourism Board.

Most outstanding places of interest include Mount Elgon National Park, Saiwa Swamp National Park and Kitale Nature Conservancy. Mt. Elgon National Park is located approximately 11 kilometers from Kitale town.

Some of the wild animals found here include
elephants, buffalos, black and white colobus, giant forest hog and over 420 bird species.

Sector Objectives
  1. Protect and empower the vulnerable and marginalised members in the community.
  2. Enhance allocations to youth and women enterprise funds and improve its
    management.
  3. Promote sporting, cultural activities and performing arts in the county.
  4. Promote identification of tourism niche products and investment on tourism related
    infrastructure.
  5. Empowerment of youth, women, elderly, vulnerable and marginalised groups in society.
  6. Establishment of sports, performing arts and cultural centres.
  7. Develop county tourism master plan/profile.
  8. To market the county as a preferred tourist destination.
  9. Promoting the County as a preferred tourist destination.
