Governor Natembeya launches Wandabwa Bridge at Waitaluk ward in Kiminini constituency
14/12/2022
Trans Nzoia Governor H.E. George Natembeya on Wednesday commissioned Wandabwa Bridge at Waitaluk ward in Kiminini constituency, connecting over 2, 000 people across Namwichula River.
The bridge brings relief to residents of Tulwet and Kaliwa who from time immemorial have had to endure using a makeshift bridge to cross the river posing a risk to their lives and making transport an expensive affair.
The bridge is expected to spur economic growth by easing transportation of agricultural produce to the market and increasing employment opportunities in the transport sector such as bodaboda. Access to public institutions such as schools and health facilities will greatly improve.
Before, area residents have been forced to travel for long distance to Tulwet Market. This is because the bridge remained cut off due to destruction by tracks and tractors owned by a sugar company.
The governor said his administration has embarked on a massive road improvement program that will open up the interior parts of the county for sustained social and economic development.
To enhance the road improvement program, the County Government will offer jobs opportunities to women and youth groups who will be tasked to clear bushes in their areas.
The county boss also urged the residents to ready themselves to apply for the Nawiri fund which will be availed soon for application by small and medium size enterprises (SMES).
Kind Regards,
Governor's Press Unit.
